When the eight lane Recreation Bowling Lanes (#1) closed in 1964 the proprietor moved to this location and opened with twelve lanes.
Jack Dansel and Orval Smiley were the owners/managers of Recreation Bowling Lanes per a 1964 Mountain States phone advertisement. Orval Smiley was the manager of New Recreation Lanes per the 1966, 1967 & 1968 Polk Cheyenne City Business Directory. Orval Smiley and A Manford Bratberg were the owners/managers of New Recreation Lanes from 1969 through 1980 Polk Cheyenne City Business Directory. Jack L Mc Lees was the owner/manager of Centennial Lanes per the 1981 & 1982 Polk Cheyenne City Business Directory. Orval Smiley was the manager of Centennial Lanes per the 1983 & 1984 Polk Cheyenne City Business Directory. It isn't clear why the center was renamed to Six Shooter Lanes per a 1984 Mountain Bell phone book before becoming Cottonwood Lanes. Ace Jenkins was the manager of Cottonwood Lanes per the 1986 Polk Cheyenne City Business Directory. Casey Mc Lees was the manager of Cottonwood Lanes per the 1987, 1988 & 1989 Polk Cheyenne City Business Directory. Michael V Vasquez was the manager of Cottonwood Lanes per the 1990 through 2007 Polk Cheyenne City Business Directory. In 1994, the 49th Annual Wyoming Women's State Bowling Tournament held the Team Event here in conjunction with the Doubles & Singles Event at Two Bar Bowl. In 1999, the 51st Annual Wyoming Men's State Bowling Tournament held the Team Event here in conjunction with the Doubles & Singles Event at Two Bar Bowl. Lockers and pinsetters ended up at Pine Bowl per Jim Zitek. The lanes were made into shuffleboard tables. I am still trying to determine why the address number changed from 142 S Greeley Hwy to 312 S Greeley Hwy between 1980 and 1981. |
